While it’s true that the Black Friday phenomenon originated over the pond with our American brothers and sisters, it’s also true that us Brits love nothing more than a good deal, so it’s no surprise that it has caught on here. The issue is, while it's fun surfing the web looking at the astonishing deals, do you really need that smart lightbulb that you can operate from an app on your phone?
To help you navigate the tantalizing and tempting terrain of an Amazon Black Friday sale, we’ve come up with a short buying guide to help clear your mind and focus your judgement. From there, we’ll show you some of our favourite savings. As a quick note, this is a specific article with a structured price range, so set your expectations accordingly.
A recommendation service that carefully researches each product and consults with experts across many disciplines. We are constantly creating new content to provide the best shopping experience from choosing ‘cosmetics’ to ‘food and drink’, ‘home appliances’ to ‘kids and baby’ products, reaching users all across the United Kingdom.
Without further ado, let’s start thinking about how to get the most out of your money. When it comes to this particular time of year, it’s easy to start filling up that online basket without giving it much thought. However, taking a quick second now and then to check yourself could see you spend your money much more shrewdly.
We aren’t going to sit down and tell you all the different deals available on Amazon. After all, we’d be here forever. What we will say though, is that it’s worth having an idea of what you want or need to pick up.
For this, we would recommend writing a shortlist of the items you want to pick up, whether that's house accessories, children's toys for Christmas, and so on. From there, you’ll be much more concentrated on getting the prioritised products, and less likely to stray off the path and splash the cash on random deals.
The discounts on these specific holidays can often seem too good to be true. However, the companies commit to providing information about how much you save, either as a per cent or the total cash sum retained. This always helps to see what you've saved and whether you've stayed on top of your budget.
The issue is that while all these deals seem so pleasing on the eye, it's usually because companies increase the prices gradually over the preceding months. Therefore when it’s time to drop, it gets more of a wow factor. While it doesn’t detract from the money you're saving, we feel it is worth knowing the reality.
Also, while the prices are lower, the chances are that they will return to this price in the next six months or so. According to some independent research done by Which.com, this is true for a massive 98% of products. So, while it might be good to get your hands on it now, you don’t have to worry if you’ve not quite got the funds, the prices will drop again.
Finally, and this goes for any time you’re buying anything - check the returns, guarantees or warranty policies. There aren’t many things worse than receiving what you ordered only to find that something is not quite right yet being unable to return it.
This year, Amazon has kindly extended their returns policy to the end of January for all Black Friday, Christmas and New Year purchases, which is welcome due to the expected boost in parcel deliveries this year. Still, you may want cover for longer periods, especially if you're buying goods such as home or grooming appliances.
Luckily, many companies offer additional guarantees once you arrive at the checkout. These are usually around £8 – £15 per month, so they’ll significantly bump up the cost of your bargain, but they’re certainly worth considering if you want this purchase to go a long way.

The latest version of Amazon's Echo Dot system will give you a helping hand around the home for a very reasonable price. The device is designed to respond primarily to voice commands, therefore, it can set alarms, play music, play games, control other 'smart' devices and so much more.
The main difference between this 4th generation and the older ones is that it now comes in a much friendlier size as it measures a little over 3 inches wide and just over 1.5 inches in height. While this slightly affects the sound quality, the gadget can be hooked up to a speaker if this ever becomes too much of an issue for you.
This portable speaker from Anker has made it into a couple of our other articles, such as Best Bluetooth Speakers Under £100, where it came in at number 1. Now with the Black Friday bonanza, the fact this comes in under our price range of 30 means we had to include it again.
The speaker has an exceptional 24-hour battery life, it's rugged and robust, and it boasts an IPX7 rating which means it can be submerged in water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes without damage. On top of that, it looks pretty good too!
We all know a brew lover, you know the ones, they've had four cups before they've got into work, and they're still pestering someone to put the kettle on as soon as they arrive. And we hate to say it, but if you can't think of anyone, it's probably you.
Yorkshire Tea is quite possibly the nation's favourite, and this deal sees you take home over 1000 bags for just over £15. Astonishingly, that works out at around £30 cheaper than if you were buying them normally, and around 1p per cuppa.
If having a stylish head of hair is important to you, then this full gift set will be perfect. The set comes with a lightweight, powerful 2000W hairdryer that can provide pristine blow-dry results. The device has two heat temperatures, two-speed settings so that it can adapt to your hair type.
Additionally, you'll get ceramic and tourmaline technology hair straighteners that reach a very respectable 200°C, all for two-thirds the usual price. These are great for most hair types and will make a lovely gift for someone or a treat for yourself.
Whether you're buying for yourself, your partner or your children, there are not many folks who haven't fancied themselves as one of the Avengers over the past few years. This newly released game from Marvel allows you to do just that, by taking on the mantle of all the original cast throughout the game.
There are satisfying savings of 40% to be made, which is particularly striking when you consider how much new games generally cost. The offer is available for both PS4 and Xbox One players, so whichever console you (or they) like, the deal is still relevant.
Whether you're partial to a cappuccino, flat white or latte, the one thing that you need for them all is frothed milk. So if you're keen on saving a few quid picking up a frother – as well as even later down the line when you no longer need to pop into Starbucks – then this kitchen accessory could be right up your street.
The device provides three different textures of milk foam, as well as being simple to wipe clean. Plus, it has innovative safety controls that turn the device off when your milk or froth is ready.
With the year we've had, we've probably all watched that little bit more of TV than we ever imagined, so there's no harm in updating your set-up for a more comfortable and convenient viewing experience. The device simply plugs into the back of your TV and from there you have access to a whole range of different shows and movies that you can rent or buy.
Alongside that, you'll also have access to popular streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, iPlayer and more. The downside is that this particular version isn't 4K ready, but they do have that available at a slightly higher price.
Hugo Boss is known for their progressive and edgy attitude and with Deep Red, they deliver that in abundance. The Eau de Parfum (top of the perfume ranking by the way) has sweet citrus top notes of blood orange, blackcurrant and clementine.
These will then decay to a smell that is anchored by the earthy and sensual vanilla, sandalwood, musk and California cedar. It's a wonderfully balanced fragrance that leaves quite the impression.
A bonafide kids classic, Where's Wally has been keeping young ones entertained for generations. This offering sees the adventurer mixed up in a spectacular Santa extravaganza, which is sure to be highly engaging for your little ones either in the lead up to, or just after the big day.
Furthermore, the book isn't just a look-and-find book anymore. Instead, there are now stickers, mazes and even games thrown in. Usually retailing just under £10, at 30% off, this is a lot of entertainment for your buck.
Who doesn't appreciate some soft and comfortable socks? Happy Socks are a company known for producing premium quality, and these babies are made from 86% cotton, 12% polyamide and 2% elastane. If that means nothing to you, then trust us, it's like the holy trinity of cosy combinations.
Furthermore, these goods are unisex and come in sizes 4 - 12, so whether you're buying for yourself or someone else, the likelihood is that there'll be something that fits them.
There are a few other ways of bagging yourself even more bargains online this coming Black Friday, and we'd like to impart our wisdom upon you that will have saving before you even starting browsing.
Because Black Friday will mainly be an online affair this year, it only makes sense that all the deals are going to be directed towards the computer and smartphone users. But more than computer users, online retailers are going to be pushing 'app-exclusive promotions' towards smartphone users; why? because studies show that these users are more likely to impulse shop.
So we recommend downloading the apps and following the brands that you're looking at (don't forget to turn on your notifications, too!) Also, check their Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages so that you'll be ready to snatch up all those discount codes the moment they go live.
Shop responsibly! Or Not. We can't tell you what to do.
Is there ever enough hours in the day when it comes to shopping for Christmas? We don't think so. But we can help take the stress out of having to find the perfect gift or the best product, so take a look at our other Christmas inspired articles for a little push in the right direction.
So there it is - our comprehensive guide to finding the best Amazon Black Friday Deals Under £30. We truly believe that if you follow the advice given in the buying guide, then you will find some great deals that aren't bought on the spare of the moment. Here's to treating you, or someone you love, on this Black Friday!
