    Bamboo Face Flannel

    Kate Bamber

So I'm a double cleanser type of person. I cleanse once to remove my make up and then cleanse again to make sure my skin is squeaky clean. After cleansing the second time I warm a face towel in water and then let it sit on my face for ten seconds. Absolute heaven.

I then wipe away the last of the cleanser which also acts as a gentle exfoliation too. I once heard that Kate Middleton uses a face towel to wash her face and if its good enough for Kate, it's good enough for me!

    Beautiful Bamboo Interdental Brushes

    Kate Bamber

I struggle with dental floss and don't like the traditional string of floss that either comes in a roll or on picks. My favourite flosses to use are the interdental sticks with a tiny brush at the end. Luckily The Truthbrush have a fantastic bamboo version!

The tiny brush is still plastic as compostable version hasn't been created yet, but they last a long time and you can take the little brush off and compost the rest which is so much better than the regular interdental brushes that are completely plastic.
  • Live Coco
    Recyclable Electric Toothbrush Heads

    Kate Bamber

For brushing my teeth I use an electric toothbrush. Instead of using the traditional heads for it I buy these recyclable heads from Live Coco.

When thinking about low-waste options it's really important to find what works for you or it just won't stick. This is a small step to more low-waste lifestyle but it's one I'm happy with as I don't feel that my teeth are as clean when using a manual toothbrush (and my dentist is still friends with me!).
  • Ethique
Heali Kiwi Shampoo Bar For Touchy Scalps

    Kate Bamber

Have you heard of a shampoo bar before? I have had quite the journey with shampoo bars and tried a number of them before I found the right bar for me. Ethique shampoo bars work every time with no dreaded transition period whilst your hair adjusts to the new normal.

All you do is lather the bar up in your hands and then use all of the lovely lather to wash your hair. It really is as simple as that! In fact after making the switch to shampoo bars I have found that my hair doesn't need washing as often as it used to, another bonus!
  • Ethique
    The Guardian Solid Conditioner

I also use a conditioner bar from Ethique to keep my hair feeling great. I've tried a number of them which all work well but this one is great. As with the shampoo bar I just rub this onto my hands and run it through the bottom half of my hair to get it tangle free and nourished.

I was hugely sceptical about shampoo and conditioner bars working for me but I'm now a firm convert. My hair feels so much lighter and manageable than it used to be and the bars last for ages too!
  • Wild Sage and Co
    Shave Kit

    Kate Bamber

A great swap that you can make in the bathroom is making the switch from using those plastic razors to a safety razor. These are so great and give you a really close shave, all you need to do is change the blade to keep it at its best.

I love this shave kit as it also provides you with a shaving balm and brush to give you the ultimate close shave. Plus it all looks so much better in your kitchen cabinet, what's not to love?
  • Wild Sage and Co
    Frankincense + Shea Balm

    Kate Bamber

Until I started trying to reduce my plastic waste I was unaware of how difficult it was to find products without plastic. I know that sounds quite silly but when you start noticing the sheer volume of products packaged in plastic it can become quite overwhelming.

Finding a plastic-free body lotion was something that I initially struggled with. Wild Sage and Co is a small business who make the most luxurious but affordable plastic-free beauty products and this frankincense shea balm which comes in a tin is absolutely lovely.
  • The Body Shop
    Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

    Kate Bamber

I often make my own cleanser for my face but if I were to recommend a product that works really well it would be this cleansing butter from The Body Shop. It has quite the cult following and it's easy to see why.

One of the main ingredients is camomile which is great for sensitive skin. It removes every last bit of the day from your skin and is all packaged in a lovely tin. Follow with a warm towel on your face and you'll be ready to sleep in no time! It's also really nice to see large businesses like The Body Shop reducing their plastic products and I love to support that.
